To ensure optimum life and overall print quality from a SATO Thermal Printer, one must take steps to alleviate potential damage to the printhead and rollers due to the operation and consumables being used. The print head in itself is a consumable component and will over time deteriorate due the nature of its application. The printhead is made of several heater elements (dots) per millimeter, which dictates the overall printhead resolution. It is protected with a thin glass coating and when energized produce heat that will transfer an image either from a ribbon onto the media or image directly when using direct thermal media. Since the printhead is a critical component, it is essential to optimize its longevity through proper operational settings, maintenance and use of matched ribbon and/or media combinations.
