Die Unterbringung von Geräten mit Luftstromführung von einer Seite zur anderen stellt IT-Administratoren und Anlagenmanager vor vielfältige Probleme, insbesondere im Hinblick auf die Kühlung. Da der Luftstrom bei den meisten Gehäusen von der Vorder- zur Rückseite geführt wird, gestaltet sich die Zufuhr von richtig temperierter Kühlluft zu Geräten schwierig, bei denen der Luftstrom von einer Seite zur anderen geführt wird. Die Rack Side Air Distribution Unit sorgt für höhere Sicherheit und bessere Platzausnutzung, da Racks ohne Behinderung des Luftstroms nebeneinander aufgestellt werden können.
Die Rack Side Air Distribution Unit ist ein 2U hohes Rack-Belüftungssystem für Netzwerkgeräte oder Server mit Luftstromführung von einer Seite zur anderen. Das Gerät saugt gekühlte Luft an der Vorderseite des Racks an und leitet diese zum seitlichen Lufteinlass der Netzwerkgeräte. Diese Kühlluftführung verlängert die Lebensdauer der Geräte, da die Luft am Lufteinlass ideal temperiert ist.
