Zoetis - Vendor Relationship Management

Paraphrasing his words, here was the story that Tomasz Cichocki (Client Productivity Services Senior Manager at Zoetis Tech & Digital PC Lifecycle, M&A integrations) shared at Markit Forum 2023.  

What drives us to success?  

Regardless of whether it is IT Outsourcing with a service provider or hardware supplier it is crucial to establish and maintain a strong relationship with the vendor.  

(1) Frequent communication – partnership, avoid misunderstandings. 

(2) Strategic Partnership – comprehensive solutions at competitive prices, unified PoC/escalation path. 

A balance must be found and therefore, our IT and procurement teams pre-selected a range of the highest quality IT products to narrow the choices or areas for feedback.   

Detailing the roles of his PCLifecycle team Tomasz added that they: 

  • Buy and manage PC hardware for entire organization in over 50 hub locations.  

  • Provide PC equipment to the new hires. 

  • Run proactive hardware refreshes. 

  • Process hardware requests from the business. 

  • Maintain high accuracy of the CMDB. 

  • Manage all hardware orders.

After sharing details of their processes and management dashboards in more detail Tomasz concluded by confirming that Zoetis operations in direct markets are quite well optimized, and that they look for continuous improvements in indirect markets e.g., punchout integrations or self-serve approaches.  

None of that could be done without strong relationships with service providers, vendors, or suppliers.  

That is why it is so important to maintain vendor relations continuously and devise win-win solutions together.
