Er ist eine kostengünstige Lösung für die Zusammenarbeit zwischen einem neuen DisplayPort-Computer und VGA-Monitor oder -Projektor.
Für garantierte Kompatibilität mit praktisch jedem DisplayPort-Ausgabegerät unterstützt der aktive DisplayPort-auf-DVI-Adapter Multi Mode (DP++)- ebenso wie Single Mode DisplayPort-Signale. Im Gegensatz zu passiven Adaptern kann der DP2DVIMM6BS mit Grafikkarten verwendet werden, die nicht für die Ausgabe von Multi Mode DP++-Signalen geeignet sind, z. B. ATI Eyefinity-Karten.
