Als u uw laptop in het dock plaatst totdat hij vastklikt, is hij gebruiksklaar, zonder kabels om te steken of hardware op uw bureau opnieuw aan te sluiten. Biedt poortreplicatie en kabelbeheer, backward compatibiliteit met oudere apparaten, ruimte voor uitbreiding met nieuwe technologie en opladen van de batterij in de aangesloten notebook. USB 2.0 en 3.0 poorten voor directe aansluiting van USB-randapparaten. USB 3.0 heeft een snellere dataoverdracht (vergeleken met USB 2.0), is backwards compatibel met USB 2.0 en is bidirectioneel.
