Productivity as a Competitive Advantage

Markit CEO, Andres Agasild recently spoke at SEB’s Baltic CFO Forum 2019 about productivity as a competitive advantage. The Forum is a good example of SEB’s Mission in action. 

“We believe that entrepreneurial minds and innovative companies are key in creating a better world. We are here to enable them to achieve their aspirations and succeed through good times and bad.” ​​​​​​​

SEB’s forum gave approximately 100 CFOs and leaders with growth ambitions a chance to hear the experience of companies in advancing productivity and efficiency topics and spend time in formal and informal talks with financial directors and managers of major companies in Latvia. 

Andres was a natural choice to speak on the subject. As a Markit client for over 15 years, SEB understands well the value, especially in terms of time and money savings, they extract from using the Markit solution for their own IT purchasing across the Baltics and Markit’s revenue per employee of more than 1 million euros validates the efficiency of our operations and people. 

He primarily spoke about Markit’s automation processes, the importance of measurement and how these bring value to our clients like SEB but cautioned against “technology hype”. 

Andres pointed out that we need to be careful not to over-estimate the impact of technology (e.g. AI) in the short term or underestimate its potential impact in the long term -companies have two chances to get their technology impact assessments wrong!
